The Honest Mess of Creation: Inside the Małe Dobra Workshop

Forget perfectly styled studio photography and pristine workspaces. The reality of designing and creating objects is loud, dirty, and chaotic. Today, we are sharing unfiltered, raw glimpses into our studio in Krotoszyn. These are quick snaps taken between heavy lifting, covered in plaster dust, broken 3D prints and slip casting that went wrong. This is the unpolished truth behind our collection.

The Studio: Plaster and Prototypes

This is where the forms are born, and often where they break. Our studio space is a testing ground. You will step on dried clay and navigate around failed slip casting molds. We use 3D printing to test architectural volumes, and the machines frequently fail, leaving tangles of wasted plastic. The floor and tables are permanently coated in a fine layer of plaster dust. We do not hide this phase. Finding the perfect, organic shape for our ceramics requires making mistakes in the physical world.

The Carpentry: Wood and Noise

A few steps away from the design studio is our carpentry workshop. This is where the quiet warmth of wood starts as a loud, aggressive process. The space is dominated by the roar of heavy machinery and the sharp smell of fresh timber. The floor is buried in sawdust and wooden offcuts. Shaping the solid frame of the Brut lounge chair or milling the geometric facades of the Bryła console requires immense physical force. There is absolutely nothing delicate about taming raw wood.

The Stonemasons: Granite

When we move to stone, the scale of the challenge changes entirely. Working with local stonemasons means entering a world of extreme weight. Massive blocks of Polish Strzegom granite are sliced open by giant water saws. Everything in the yard is wet from the cooling water and covered in a layer of light stone dust. Building the Filar console or the Rdzeń bench is cold and unforgiving work. It requires industrial cranes, raw strength, and a deep respect for a material that simply does not compromise.

The Price of Material Honesty

There is a massive contrast between the loud, dirty environments where our objects are made and the silent, grounding presence they bring to your interiors. The plaster dust, the wood shavings, and the stone sludge are not distractions. They are the undeniable proof of true material honesty.
